After reading a book about the Virgin legend, Lupita falls asleep. The next morning, she receives good news, her boyfriend is alive. Together they go to La Villa del Tepeyac (a church devoted to La Virgen de Guadalupe) and thank for the miracle.

Le génie civil consists of numerous etchings and photogravure prints from an engineering journal, illustrating the advancement of industrialism in the late 1800’s. The filmed illustrations are allowed to speak for themselves as still images during a prolonged cinematic time, a kind of viewing time. In a reciprocal and dense interaction with a collage of noise from trains, rain, thunder, a ticking clock and organ music, the material is brought to life and the narrative of the film slowly emerges. Because the images in Le génie civil are taken out of their original context and placed in another time and space, they link the past with an ongoing present.

In Söderquist's first film [I frack] In Tuxedo, playfulness and improvisation are combined with absurd humor. An artist steps into an empty studio and begins assembling objects into a tree-like sculpture. The sculpture is adorned with small white paper clouds, puppets and undefinable items; all the while, the studio fills up with new things: a suitcase, a mirror and formal attire. The artist, now wearing a top hat and tuxedo, paints the paper clouds and the wall in a frenzy of activity, ending with his sitting exhausted in a corner surrounded by the mess he has created. The growing chaos, the various layers of narrative and the music of the soundtrack, which was improvised and recorded live during a viewing of the final film cut, interact in counterpoint.

Kim is hired to ride through Munich on his horse, poses with models outside the Feldherrnhalle. He is featured in a film an is extensively covered by the newspapers. A nun fleeing through the woods to escape from the roaring Kim, lands in a bog and is only rescued by Kim and his team after Georg has saved the rescue on film. The rescue is first glorified on a record, the record is a best-seller and Kim becomes a star.

Under the cross at the stream many years later, a fratricide takes place when two rival brothers fight for the love of one woman. However, the cross is also the place where Štěpán meets Eva, the foster daughter of Dolanský the miller. She falls in love with Štěpán and sets her heart on breaking the curse laid by the great grandmother of the family. She succeeds in doing so thanks to the strength and devotion of her love which overcomes her husband's estrangement, his infidelities and brutality.

During the French Revolution, a wealthy couple lives safely by professing republican beliefs. When a mob attacks a nearby chateau an aristocrat bursts into the couple's home. They save his life by disguising him as a servant, but he soon forces his attentions on the wife. Hearing their struggle, the husband intervenes and, stripping the aristocrat of his disguise, thrusts him outdoors to be killed by the mob.

Papa is proud of his new birthday present, a shotgun. Mary's boyfriend arrives for a visit and she is anxious to introduce him to Papa. When Harry sees Papa walk in with a shotgun he misunderstands and departs in terror. Harry continues to encounter Papa everywhere and runs away, baffling the old man. At last Papa hauls Harry back home for an explanation and a reunion with Mary.

This collection of the historically vital works of America's legendary first African-American filmmakers is the only one of its kind. Funded in part by a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, the packaged set includes no fewer than a dozen feature-length films and nearly twice as many shorts and rare fragments. Subject matter includes race issues that went unaddressed by Hollywood for decades.

Based on The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Mazzetti’s debut film dispenses with all artifices to portray the original allegory (a man who turns into an insect), instead focussing on the alienation produced by society’s rigid expectations, which are here internalised and invisible. On learning that the short film had been shot with material stolen from the Slade School of Fine Art (London), the rector of the department decided that its reception by an audience of teachers and students would determine whether or not Mazzetti should be expelled. Thankfully, the film received immediate praise from those present.

Together is set in London's East End, with its bombsites, narrow streets, riversides, warehouses, markets, and pubs. It follows two deaf-mute dockers who are completely cut-off from the outside world and are constantly pursued by groups of jeering children. Its modern depiction of everyday working-class life and its new approach to realism were inspired by Italian neo-realism and by the techniques used by Mazzetti's Free Cinema friends.

Broadcasted only once, in the cultural program Tempo, in 1963, on the ITV/ABC channel. The photographs filmed in the title box are cropped and augmented with tenderly ironic commentary on the English, inspired by Cartier-Bresson’s notes for this commission.

Take a tour through St Ives’ labyrinthine cobbled streets, with names like 'Love Lane', 'Fish St' or 'Teetotal St', and encounter an array of colourful characters along the way. From well-weathered fishermen to artists, including Leonard Fuller, who appears with a group of students in tow from his St. Ives School of Painting, to George Bradshaw who founded the St Ives' Society of Artists. And, as the narrator points out, "there are cats everywhere" - no doubt due to the endless scraps of fish at their disposal.

Never mind the polar bears, penguins and giraffes - in this film London Zoo's main attraction is an enterprising sparrow who feeds off the animals' leftovers. Nature and animals were recurring themes in Gaumont-British Instructional's films for children and the anthropomorphic jokes and whimsical commentary, in this case delivered in rhyming couplets, would have strengthened their appeal.
