The story of gigantic apartment complexes, known as bloki, built under the Communist rule. These reviled blocks were home to thousands of people. The government set a clear directive for the architects, but they did not always submit their plans without signs of frustration. Broadly defined, creators of these buildings talk about how the blocks came about, while residents explain how these shaped their lives. A forgotten and perhaps repressed history of social advancement, migrations, and high hopes of modernisation, and a wonderful journey about a past that, despite the apartment blocks that might seem depressing, is not condemned by everyone.
